August 4, 2008 Me n' Dana recently got back from our Honeymoon on the West Coast of Canada. While I can't get into all of the juicy details, I'm sure you can use your imagination, but I'll forewarn you... hair doesn't just grow on my chinny-chinny-chin. So take caution. Otherwise, this little re-cap will be mostly PG-13. We flew out to Vancouver from Toronto and the plane left at seven in the morning. With the time zone changing, that meant we were actually in British Columbia around 9:30 am. We spent the first day touring around a little bit with Dana's cousin Bryan before catching a quick power-nap at the hotel. He showed us the basic safe-zones for us to go around on our own and where to look out for prostitutes and dime-bag dealers. ![]() Shopping in Vancouver was interesting. There are dozens upon dozens of little expensive boutiques where you can easily drop $600 on a pair of jeans. Now, I can't exactly drop $600 on jeans and call that easy, so we were a little most picky about our shopping. Six-hundred bucks can buy a lot of beer, pizza, and harmonicas, so I found a pair of jeans for $25 that I was much more happy with. And I needed those jeans, because the weather was much cooler than I'm used to. There's no humidity in Vancouver, so the mornings and evenings were bloody cold. As far as dining goes, we hit up a three-story Irish Pub called Céili's pronounced (Kay-lee's) and decided we liked the place so much that we'd actually name our first-born daughter after it. We ate at Earls and also joined Bryan and his girlfriend Candice for all-you-can-eat sushi. ![]() And before we knew it, the week was over and it was time to take another long plane ride home. I liked visiting Vancouver, but I don't know if I could live there. I'd definitely visit again in a heartbeat though. We've been home for nearly a week, and my body still isn't back to normal. I'm hungry when I should be tired, and I'm tired when I should be hungry. Those tricky time zones will do that to you. Thanks for reading! - Ryan |
