It seems I have an apology to make.

On July 18, at 11:04 am I went to play a Huey Lewis & The News record. The album, "Fore!", was selected so I could hear the sweet mellow groove of Doing It All For My Baby. When I put the needle on the vinyl LP I was shocked to see that my turntable wasn't spinning.

A sad dream had been realised. My record player was dead. Sure, it was a day I was expecting. My record player is from 1984. It's old. It was bound to die someday. It already outlasted three walkmans, three CD-playing stereos, a boombox from '93, and an iPod Shuffle. It's like the Ric Flair of stereo equipment. Old and awesome.

But then it died. And I blamed Huey Lewis. In doing so, I guess I also blamed The News because, after all, their name is also on LP cover. I did some shopping yesterday and hoped I could find a replacement. Everywhere I went had turntables that would convert records to mp3s. That's not what I wanted. I just want something to listen to vinyl on. As we all know (or at least SHOULD know) music sounds better on vinyl. That warm sound is so warming.

It Still Works! ---------- An Apology To Mr. Lewis & Co.

Alas, I could find no suitable replacement and bought a new Bruins hat instead.

This morning, I go to un-hook the turntable from my stereo and notice that half the work was already done for me. For some strange reason my turntable wasn't plugged in. No wonder it wouldn't work! I plugged the fucker back in and it wasn't long before I was groovin' and doing it all for my baby.

So I'd like to make an apology to Huey Lewis & The News for accusations against them in the assumed murder of my Sony turntable. I hope they will forgive me.
