Buckcherry - Black Butterfly
Buckcherry return with their fourth studio album, titled Black Butterfly, and boy does it rock. But what else would you expect from the band that gave us "Lit Up", "Crazy Bitch", and "Ridin'"?
The Good: This album is another installment to the testament of why Buckcherry are the best rock band in the world today. There's no political messages here. No faux punk styles. Just a whole lot of rockin' riffs and sexual innuendos. Well, okay, they aren't innuendos at all. This album is full of the Buckcherry trademark "balls in your face" lyrics. Producing with Marti Fredriksen this time means they're a little more polished and radio-friendlier. Crank up these tunes: "Rescue Me", "Too Drunk...", "Talk To Me", "Cream". And mellow out to "All Of Me", possibly the hidden gem of the whole record.
The Bad: My only real gripe with the album is the packaging. I really hate paper CD cases. The only two songs I find myself skipping past are "Dreams" and "Rose". They may grow on me later.
The Verdict: It's another rockin' album from start to finish. In a world of shitty pop music, uninspired hip hop, and sellout punk bands, it's nice to see that Buckcherry is carrying the rock n' roll torch passed down by Zep, Aero, and GnR.
