Green Lantern: First Flight
DC Comics is finally giving their Green Lantern franchise some much needed exposure. With rumors of a motion picture coming, this DVD will hopefully spark some interest in those who probably doesn't know of Green Lantern. So this is the story of how Hal Jordan becomes a member of the Green Lantern Corps and how he saves them from a traitor in their own ranks.

The Good: What a nice DVD! I mean, really, the artwork is great. The story is good. It's just an all-around good time. What I really liked was the emphasis on Green Lantern's imagination and creativity. I think kids today who really like Ben10 would get a huge kick out of Green Lantern. And I'm really glad that Hal Jordan is finally the Lantern in the spotlight. The Justice League cartoon had John Stewart, and while he was great for the team I don't think he could've had this own movie.

The Bad: Since I used to read DC Comics religiously, I already knew the jist of this story. Hell, I even knew who the traitor was from the beginning. I won't give it away here. For GL newbies, this shouldn't be a problem. Sit back and enjoy the ride. The flicks is a little too fast. Hal gets his ring and just goes into space to be a member of the Corps. It's clear he has a romantic relationship on Earth at the beginning, and after ten minutes we never hear of it again.

The Verdict: It's totally worth the $17.99. Mine was free (birthday present) so that makes it 1799 times better, but I would've eventually bought it anyway. It's better than the Doomsday DVD that DC released, and it also leaps tall buildings over that horrible Batman: Gotham Knight DVD. So check it out.
