| ![]() Ghost Rider The Good: Remember when we were all kids and would dream what comic book movies could be like? At the time all we had were Superman and Batman movies. Ghost Rider would've been cool because he had a skull on fire! And the effects in this flick paid off for the most part. Ghost Rider looked pretty cool, as did his bike. Eva Mendez treats us to many cleavage shots, and that makes the movie enjoyable too. Now this next point may be good or bad, depending on what you look for in a movie. Ghost Rider is really cheesy. I like the cheesy element in a comic book film, because the subject matter is so hard to take seriously anymore that if you try to make the movie too realistic it loses out in the fun-factor. I thoroughly enjoyed the fact that Ghost Rider was cheesy. The Bad: Is Nicholas Cage wearing fake teeth? I know his hair in Ghost Rider must be fake... but are the teeth fake too? Ghost Rider's voice takes some getting used too. It's hard to understand at first because it's so deep and gritty with an echo to it. The sound editor shouldn't have used quite so many effects on it. At the end of the movie we have the obligatory hero-villain speech. You know the one. "I'll get you next time..." which is answered with "I'll be waiting." There's nothing wrong with that speech, but it was just so void of any emotion for the ending of the film. It came across really lame. Almost as though the Devil was saying "If I ever get around to it, I'll make you pay for this." Yawn. The Verdict: In a surprizing way, I quite enjoyed Ghost Rider. I understand why all the critics are giving it a hard time, and really, I think those critics have slowly forgotten how to have fun over the years. Ghost Rider is cheesy and predictable, but that's why we should embrace it.
