Spider-Man 3
I was very excited going into this movie after seeing the initial previews for it. As a kid I always liked Spider-Man's black costume better than the red and blue threads, so seeing it in the movie was a real treat for me. Even on a Sunday evening showing the theater was almost full. There's no doubt this movie will be the number one movie of the weekend.

The Good: As I've already mentioned, I love the black costume. The comic version was much more simplistic, and yet I really like all the detail in this interpretation. It was also great to see Gwen Stacey in the third movie. Her part was just big enough too. After all, in the comics she was Spidey's girl before Mary Jane. Putting her in now to add a little jealousy was just right. She's not a bitch though, cause she realizes that she's being used too. The action sequences in Spidey 3 exceed anything done in the second movie. As usual, the special effects are nothing short of incredible, but that's to be expected these days. The inclusion of Venom was great for all the younger Spider-Fans, and seeing Peter Parker be a total asshole to people under the influence of the symbiote was a nice change.

The Bad: The only thing that didn't settle well with me (and this contains spoilers) was Harry Osborn turning good at the end and helping Spidey. I would've really liked to have seen Spidey fight Venom and the Sandman all on his own. Then he would've had to really figure a way out of the dilemma. Having the hero get saved by someone else suggests that maybe the hero shouldn't have gotten involved in the first place. I dunno, just my two cents.

The Verdict: Some critics are giving this movie a hard time, saying there isn't enough characterization, and that there's too much going on the in story, and that there's too many villains... but really, this is a COMIC BOOK movie. And I for one really felt like I was watching a comic come to life this time around. Lots of adventure, lots of suspense, some good drama, and the right touch of humor. Spider-Man 3 is a really enjoyable popcorn movie that I recommend seeing on the big screen. I enjoyed it a thousand times more than Spidey 2, and almost as much as the first one.
